FBNBank Ghana introduces First Current Plus Account to improve customer serviceSustainability

 

In line with its commitment to boost the ease of banking as well as provide enhanced customer experience, FBNBank Ghana is set to unveil the First Current Plus Account, another innovative product tailored to enable customers carry out their banking transactions in a flexible more and convenient way.

 

First Current Plus Account, a hybrid of the Bank’s savings and current accounts uniquely exempts customers from paying service charges (no Commission on Turnover) while allowing them to earn attractive interest per annum on their account deposits having maintained the required minimum balance for both the individual and corporate customers respectively. This account also affords customers real time e-mail and SMS notifications on their transactions.

 

Mr. Gbenga Odeyemi, the Managing Director of FBNBank Ghana while speaking on the new product said the introduction of the First Current Plus Account is one of the many innovations tailored to meet the financial needs of customers, and helping to expand the businesses of customers as well. He said the user-friendly nature of the account ensures that customers always have a convenient and reliable way of doing their financial transactions.
“By opening a First Current Plus Account with us, customers will have the peace of mind to perform important transactions on the go, while confidently knowing that they have direct access and control of their finances,” he said. Mr. Odeyemi highlighted other innovative solutions that FBNBank Ghana has rolled out to serve various segments of the market like Wari and Vodafone Cash – remittance service solutions.

 

The new product is targeted at entities such as Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), premium customers, commercial, corporate clubs and associations, restaurants, churches, as well as hotels, among others and individuals. Other benefits of this account include daily interest accumulation, personalized cheque book, instant MasterCard for ATM, Point of Sale and online transactions in Ghana and beyond, free monthly e-statement, three free monthly withdrawals and access to loan or overdraft. Customers with this account also enjoy access to carry out their banking transactions on the Bank’s convenient and secure online banking platform.

FBNBank Ghana Introduces Wari Money Transfer Service

 

FBNBank Ghana is set to roll out a new money transfer service across its subsidiary branches nationwide. The new service, Wari, is meant to provide simple, accessible and rapid way to send and receive money.

As a multi-purpose platform, Wari will enable existing and potential customers of FBNBank Ghana to receive money from abroad, send and receive money within Ghana, purchase airtime, and pay bills for electricity, water and other recharge services. It will also offer among other innovative solutions, insurance and pension services, as well as a handy Wari Multiservice Prepaid Cards – Reloadable Cards for transactions on all GH-Links ATM.

Mr. Gbenga Odeyemi, MD/CEO of FBNBank Ghana Limited, said, “in line with compliance to Bank of Ghana regulations the money transfer service from Wari would be limited to sending money within Ghana. Meanwhile, customers can receive remittances locally.” According to him, the Wari money transfer service was first launched in 2008 in Senegal and has thenceforth spread to more than 30 African countries, with an equally strong global presence in Europe, America, Asia and Oceania. He said Wari has over 95,000 agents worldwide as well over 100 partner Banks and Institutions to help facilitate effective and convenient remittance service to customers.

FBNBank Ghana provides other remittance services such as Sigue, Integrity, Ria, TransFast, Western Union and Money Gram which allows customers to only receive money from abroad, but the new “money transfer service from Wari would allow customers to receive money from abroad as well as send and receive money domestically,” he said.

Mr. Odeyemi noted that the approval of Wari by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) enables FBNBank Ghana to continue to offer financial products and services to Ghanaian customers, businesses, institutions and merchants. He underscored the Bank’s commitment to ensuring that products and services are tailored to meet the needs and aspirations of customers and the banking public. He therefore urged all customers of FBNBank Ghana to visit any of the branches across the country to receive or send their remittances, while assuring them of the safety and security of their funds.

FBNBank Ghana has partnered with eTranzact, an electronic transaction switching and payment processing platform, to provide the bank’s customers with a simple, secure and convenient way of paying bills for various services. This partnership is also among others, meant to enhance customers’ experience through convenient banking service.

 

The eTranzact platform provides FBNBank Ghana with the ability to support the collection of bills for and on behalf of service providers such as ECG, DStv, GOtv, Surfline, Vodafone, AMA, MTN, WAEC and Medview Airline at any of the bank’s branches across the country. Beyond this, FBNBank Ghana will also be able to monitor all details of payments online providing absolute security on all transactions. This means payments of subscriptions, utility bills and school fees can be conveniently managed by the bank at all its branches.

FBNBank Ghana Appoints New Managing Director

 

FBNBank Ghana, a subsidiary of First Bank of Nigeria Limited has announced the appointment of Mr. Gbenga Odeyemi as the bank’s new Managing Director effective 16th May, 2016. Mr. Odeyemi succeeds Mr. Seyi Oyefeso who is now the Group Executive, Commercial Banking, First Bank of Nigeria Limited. A graduate of Finance from the Institute of Management & Technology, Enugu and an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, Nigeria, Mr. Gbenga Odeyemi, whose banking career spans over 24 years, has contributed significantly to the growth of the retail and corporate banking segments of FirstBank in South Africa and various states in Nigeria, riding on his natural flair for nurturing rewarding relationships with different stakeholders.

Mr. Odeyemi also believes in entrepreneurship and thus used his entrepreneurial clout as Chief Representative Officer of First Bank of Nigeria’s Office in South Africa, to promote business opportunities between South Africa and Nigeria, earning him the role of a key member of the board of South Africa Nigeria Chamber of Commerce in 2014.

FBNBank Ghana Launches Western Union Money Transfer Service

 

FBNBank Ghana Limited (FBNBank) has partnered with The Western Union, a leader in global payment services, to introduce its money transfer services across FBNBank branches in the country.

This means that anyone can receive Western Union remittances through any FBNBank branch in Ghana. This service is open to customers who do not have an account with the Bank. With this, everyone can now receive money sent from their family and friends from any part of the world almost as instantly as when it is sent.
