The Pan-African Payment and Settlements System is a platform designed to facilitate cross-border payments and settlements in Africa.

Papps provides a fast, convenient, secure platform for sending and receiving money to and from business partners within African without worrying about exchange rates

Pan-African Payment & Settlement System (PAPSS) is a centralized payment and settlement infrastructure for intra-African trade and commerce. It is designed to enable the sending and receiving of funds in local currencies to and from other African Countries.

 

  1. Who can I send money to?
  • You can send money to individuals and businesses in PAPSS’ participating countries. The participating countries are Nigeria, Liberia, Gambia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

 

  1. Is there a limit for sending money to individuals and businesses?
  • There are daily limits for sending money. The limits are:
    • Individuals – $2,000 / day and $10,000 / year equivalent in Ghana Cedis
    • Businesses – $5,000 / day and $50,000 / year equivalent in Ghana Cedis
  • You would be required to submit supporting documents should you require to send money above these limits.

 

  1. Is there a charge for sending money?

 

  1. Do I need to have an account at FBNBank before sending money?
  • All you need to do is visit any of our branches with your money and send.

You can also open an account with us for easy use of this service.

 

  1. Which Banks in these participating countries can the money be sent to?

  1. Does the receiver of the money need to have an account with the banks listed in (5) above?
  • Yes

 

  1. In which currency can I send the money, Ghana Cedis or Dollars?
  • Ghana Cedis

 

  1. In which currency will the beneficiary receive the money?
  • The money will be received in the beneficiary’s local currency.
  1. If you send money to Nigeria, the beneficiary will receive it in Naira.

 

  1. Can I receive money through PAPSS in Ghana?
  • You can.

 

  1. Do I need to have an FBNBank Account to receive money through PAPSS?

 

  1. How long does it take for funds transferred to reflect in my account?
  • Funds reflect instantly from all participating countries. However, funds from Nigeria reflect the next day.
