Pan-African Payment & Settlement System (PAPSS) is a centralized payment and settlement infrastructure for intra-African trade and commerce. It is designed to enable the sending and receiving of funds in local currencies to and from other African Countries.
- Who can I send money to?
- You can send money to individuals and businesses in PAPSS’ participating countries. The participating countries are Nigeria, Liberia, Gambia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.
- Is there a limit for sending money to individuals and businesses?
- There are daily limits for sending money. The limits are:
- Individuals – $2,000 / day and $10,000 / year equivalent in Ghana Cedis
- Businesses – $5,000 / day and $50,000 / year equivalent in Ghana Cedis
- You would be required to submit supporting documents should you require to send money above these limits.
- Is there a charge for sending money?
- Do I need to have an account at FBNBank before sending money?
- All you need to do is visit any of our branches with your money and send.

- Does the receiver of the money need to have an account with the banks listed in (5) above?
- Yes
- In which currency can I send the money, Ghana Cedis or Dollars?
- Ghana Cedis
- In which currency will the beneficiary receive the money?
- The money will be received in the beneficiary’s local currency.
- If you send money to Nigeria, the beneficiary will receive it in Naira.
- Can I receive money through PAPSS in Ghana?
- You can.
- Do I need to have an FBNBank Account to receive money through PAPSS?
- How long does it take for funds transferred to reflect in my account?
- Funds reflect instantly from all participating countries. However, funds from Nigeria reflect the next day.
